Bay Area Search 2026

Code of Conduct

Bay Area Search brings the San Francisco search community together for a day of learning, connection, and honest conversation. We want everyone who attends to feel welcome, respected, and safe.

This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff. By participating in Bay Area Search activities, you agree to follow these guidelines.

Where this applies

This Code of Conduct applies throughout Bay Area Search, including:

  • The event at Manny’s on November 17, 2026
  • The official Bay Area Search happy hour and related activities
  • Official Bay Area Search or Previsible social media, chats, and online spaces connected to the event

What we expect

  • Be respectful. Treat others with courtesy, including people whose views, backgrounds, or experience differ from yours.
  • Be inclusive. Make room for others in conversations and help newcomers feel welcome.
  • Disagree thoughtfully. Candid conversation is part of what makes this event valuable. Challenge ideas, not people.
  • Respect boundaries. Pay attention to others’ comfort levels. If someone asks you to stop or step back, respect that request.
  • Drink responsibly. Alcohol will be served at the happy hour. Know your limits, and never pressure anyone to drink.

What is not acceptable

Harassment and disrespectful behavior are not tolerated. Prohibited behavior includes:

  • Offensive comments, jokes, or conduct related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, appearance, or other personal characteristics
  • Unwelcome physical contact, sexual attention, or advances
  • Intimidation, stalking, or following someone in a way that makes them feel unsafe
  • Photographing or recording someone who has asked not to be photographed or recorded
  • Sustained disruption of talks, sessions, or other event activities
  • Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern or participates in a report
  • Encouraging, assisting, or engaging in any of the behavior described above

Speakers and sponsors

Speakers and sponsors are held to the same standards as everyone else. Presentations, booth materials, and promotional content must be appropriate for a professional audience and free of discriminatory or sexually explicit content.

Photography and recording

Photos and video will be taken during the event for use in Bay Area Search and Previsible communications and promotional materials. If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let our team know at check-in or during the event, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. If you appear in a published photo or video and would like it removed, email jennifer@previsible.io.

Reporting a concern

If you experience or witness behavior that goes against this Code of Conduct, please talk to any organizer at the event or email jennifer@previsible.io. We’ll take every report seriously and handle it discreetly. If you feel unsafe or there’s an immediate threat, call 911.

What happens if someone breaks these rules

Bay Area Search organizers will assess concerns and determine an appropriate response. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a warning, removal from a session or the event without a refund, exclusion from future events, or other appropriate action. Organizers may remove someone without a prior warning when warranted.

Thank you

Thank you for helping make Bay Area Search a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable space for everyone.
